Elevated Discomfort

The hallway at 601 W 26th street was loud as the swarms of graduate students were waiting for the single elevator to take them to the SVA gallery situated on the 15th floor. I was on the phone catching up with some old friends as the rest of the students got to know each other better. After a good 20 minute wait I finally stepped foot on to the elevator. Behind me, 15 others step in. And the law of the elevator took place. The outside sounds from the hallway hushed to a silence as the doors closed. Conversations have stopped and people stood tightly and silently in this tiny moving room.

When we got to the 14th floor someone finally spoke. "Once we're in, we're in." Thats exactly what i said 9 months ago when I applied. The cold feet I'm getting right now are natural, I'm sure. But ofcourse I still don't have a home, a shit load of debt, and a program that still hasn't proven itself as worthy yet. Oh please SVA, prove yourself to me. Let me know I made the right decision.
